Insurrection - Circles Of Despair

INSURRECTION-300-dpi.jpg

The Frisian 4-piece band ‘Insurrection’ has made their second full length called ‘Circles Of Despair’. The melodic death/thrash band from the northern part of The Netherlands, has been building a lot of publicity. Very professional artwork and good publicity. Released through BigBadWolfRecords, the cd has been sitting in my collection for a short while. So thanks to BigBadWolfRecords for sending the cd to me to get it reviewed. So, when I see the term melodic death/thrash, I hope that the band is professional enough to hire a good producer. So let’s dive in.

From the first few seconds you will notice that Insurrection did manage to get a very good producer and a great final mix. The sound of the voice of Marten is very unique and very well mixed. The thing is is that you might have to get used to Marten his vocals because they change very often between ‘Ball-squeezed’ high-pitched thrash metal vocals and death metal growls. But the instrument that really sticks out, are the drums. Douwe is absolutely destroying those drums with his amazing double bass patterns.

The album has certainly got some memorable moments and high paced music is changed at the right moment with some more melodic elements in the music. Otherwise it would've been a lot more boring. It also shows that Insurrection absolutely know what they are doing, musically wise. It is unique to see a young band like Insurrection, have such a professional take on their music like they do. It shows that they’re eager to take this way of music seriously.

Insurrection have improved a lot since their last album ‘Catatonic’ in every way possible. They took the professional way and you hear and see that. They are no longer that thrash band from the north. They are one of the best young Dutch death/thrash bands from The Netherlands.
