If I could write this review in Frisian, I would’ve done that but since I don’t know a single word of Frisian I’ll just stick with English. So this band Tarre is from the northern province of Friesland. It is vital information because the first song is in Frisian and the rest of the album is in English. So the debut has been received very well by the local and foreign media. The doom metal outfit is ready.

The first song really kicks in with is length of 12:31 minutes long. It isn’t quite normal to open with a long song but Tarre has been brave enough to do it. Quickly you will notice that the sound of Tarre is quite dense. The guitars are very thick and murky. Upon further listening, you will notice quickly that there is a lot of groove smeared all over the album.

The voice of Meindert could be a little bit boring until the song ‘Global Fungus’. His voice turns into a modern rendition of Ozzy Osbourne. The more heavier version but his voice also has that sharp edge to it and that makes ‘Global Fungus’ a good surprise on a so far quite slow and monotone album.

From time to time the album has some melodic bits and pieces but that doesn’t take away that the whole album is heavily depended on the bass. It isn’t the album for the short listener. That is true because the whole album is more than an hour. 65 minutes to be precise. For the more experienced doom-lovers, this an album to enjoy every single second of it.

At some points the album could get a little bit monotonous however, the album has a couple of great surprises up its sleeve and that’s what makes this album interesting. Spoken words here and there, vocal changes make the whole album complete.
